A Quiet Place (2018. Director: John Krasinski Starring: Emily Blunt, John Krasinski, Millicent Simmonds, Noah Jupe) SYNOPSIS: The world has been devastated and human life is barely continuing. One family will do whatever it takes to survive. They must do so in absolute silence though as something lurks outside hunting them ...and it hears everything. Shhh... listen... Back in 2012 cinemagoers were hit with an infuriating epidemic. The new filmgoing generation, having learned to consider being away from social media the equivalent of being starved of oxygen, were bringing their mobile phones into screens. This led to a wave of people being loud and annoying during films. The Prince Charles cinema in London came up with a unique solution. Volunteers were given free tickets if they wore a full body black ' morphsuit ' to make them invisible in the darkness of the screen. New Release Review: Thoroughbreds

Thoroughbreds (2018. Director: Cory Finley. Starring: Olivia Cooke, Anya Taylor-Joy, Anton Yelchin, Paul Sparks) SYNOPSIS: Lily (Anya Taylor-Joy), an upper class young student with bold academic dreams, begins tutoring her former friend Amanda (Olivia Cooke) who has become something of a social pariah for seemingly gruesome reasons. Soon after Amanda makes the startling confession that she feels no emotions at all. Although initially disturbed by this revelation Lily slowly begins to realise that there may be certain advantages to befriending a sociopath. Thoroughbreds , like it's title characters, is an unusual beast. Although clearly a 'genre' film it's hard to place exactly what genre it falls into. Taking it's inspiration as much from the cold, nasty worlds of Brett Easton Ellis as it does from previous films about scheming teenagers (both Heathers and the Rian Johnson's equally noir-ish Brick come to mind), Thoroughbreds blends a plot of Hitc

Rampage (2018. Director: Brad Peyton. Starring: Dwayne Johnson, Naomie Harris, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Malin Akerman) SYNOPSIS: Primatologist David Okoye (Dwayne Johnson) finds it easier to befriend animals than humans . When his favourite gorilla, George, is exposed to a mysterious chemical he is shocked to find him growing in size and aggression. While trying to save George he discovers that he wasn't the only animal affected by the pathogen. What kind of film is Rampage ? Rampage is the kind of film that begins with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson giving a fist bump to a giant albino gorilla named George. In fact, that's not true. Rampage begins with a scene where Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson tries to give a fist bump to a giant albino gorilla only for said gorilla to pull it's hand away, laughing, and flip him it's middle finger.
